This walk is like no other in the Peak District, with its deep mossy chasms this place feels magical and almost other worldly. It really is hard to compare Lud’s Church to anywhere else in the UK, not just the Peak District.

Getting there & parking
Gradbach car park – SK17 0SU. This is a FREE car park which does fill up quickly on busy days. There is another car park a little further down the road at Gradbach Mill if needed.
The route
Head right out of the car park and down the quiet tarmac road towards the Scout Camp, go through here and head towards the woods and across the river. Turn right to head up through the woods and then turn back on yourself before reaching the entrance to Lud’s Church.
You’ll pick up the boardwalk on leaving the chasms and you’ll want to head to the end before almost double backing to return through a new section of woodland, at the end of here you should recognise where you are, head right and retrace your footsteps through the scout camp and back to the car.

Tips & what to bring
Good sturdy footwear is essential for the muddy paths and steep slippery steps.
Eat & drink nearby
There is a cafe at Gradbach Mill.
