About the place
This is the sort of cottage you would think of when picturing ‘a cosy Peak District cottage’ They do allow 2 night stays but its the same price as a 4 night stay so its definitely worth booking a week off if you want to explore the Peak District. We had a welcome hamper which included goodies from the Chatsworth Estate and possibly the best shortbread biscuits we’ve ever eaten.
The space
This is a 2 bedroom cottage with a large living dining room, kitchen and outdoor seating area, but our favourite room was the bathroom, it’s beautiful. There is on street parking and we always managed to get parked right outside the house although Great Longstone has no parking restrictions so finding somewhere close if not would be easy.

Hope Cottage, Main Street, Great Longstone, DE45 1TG. Only 1 mile from Monsal Head our Monsal Dale & weir walk would be the perfect walk to start with. The cottage is only a short 5 minute drive to the pretty village of Ashford in the water, and a 10 minute drive to the market town of Bakewell where you can try the Famous Bakewell Pudding. Being in the village you have lots of pubs on your doorstep, whether its a drink you want or a good pub meal after a day exploring the local footpaths.
Would we go back?
We loved this cottage, we were only the second guests to stay here as it has undergone renovation with the current owners. It felt homely, super cosy and everything had been thought out so well, they had everything here. It is in a great location for exploring the Peak District and we would definitely go back.
