Bakewell & Chatsworth Circular Walk from Ashford in the Water

You’ll pass through picture perfect Derbyshire villages, the only true Peak District town, where you can try the famous Bakewell pudding, before walking alongside beautiful rivers, past Chatsworth House and through the hidden village of Edensor.

Although you should always be prepared, this route passes a lot of shops, pubs and cafes so if you get hungry or need a drink you get many options on route.

Getting there & parking

Ashford in the Water car park – DE45 1QG -This is a honesty car park with toilets, suggested at £2 a day for parking. There is also limited on street parking as well as other options in Bakewell and at Chatsworth.

The route

This is a circular route starting in Ashford in the Water, following the riverside path into Bakewell, before getting onto the Chatsworth estate, to Edensor and back.

Tips & what to bring

Chatsworth sometimes have events on and some local footpaths could be closed during this time, so it’s worth checking before you go. If you do go near Christmas time, the markets could be on, this is FREE entry so if you’re into those sorts of things it might work out pretty well for you.
