About the place
The Peacock is a historic 17th century boutique hotel with 15 rooms and suites decorated with antique furniture and heritage interiors. The restaurant holds 3AA rosettes and is featured in the Michelin guide, they also serve their own take on some pub classics on the lunch menu for those that prefer a more relaxed dining.
The space
We stayed in a junior suite, with a 4 poster bed and many original features and classic decor in the room. It felt as through we had gone back in time to live a life of luxury, the bathroom was full marble and again felt very luxurious. There are lots of communal areas on the ground floor including a restaurant, huge garden and a grade 2 listed bar that often serves right through the night.

Would we go back?
We would save this place for a special occasion, it feels almost too good for a regular visit, the food is sublime and the staff make you feel like royalty. It is more expensive than other stays we’ve had in the Peak District and we felt the need to dress up a little more than we usually do. If you love good food and being waited on hand and foot or just like dressing up and feeling put together in a beautiful setting then this is the place to be.
