The Old Original Bakewell pudding shop is a must visit. The Bakewell pudding recipe dates back to the early 19th century and Bakewell is the only place you can get it, in the country.

What is it?
With a shop downstairs and a beautiful cafe with seating upstairs, it’s much bigger than it looks from the roadside. It’s a great stop off on any walk that passes through Bakewell and if you prefer you can get a takeaway and enjoy eating your treats riverside.

We couldn’t decide what to get, so we opted for both a Bakewell tart, Bakewell pudding, custard and cream. This was a good choice but we both preferred the pudding, its just very different to anything else you can get and the tart was just a really good Mr Kipling cake.

Getting there
The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, The Square, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1BT. There’s no parking for the shop itself but there is plenty of parking in the town. Bakewell Bridge car park is a good option on Coombes Road, DE45 1AQ
