The Charleston is the kind of venue Bakewell needed! Being the only town in the Peak District, Bakewell gets a lot of visitors and they all come to see something different. A great stop off for a drink mid walk in their courtyard garden, or even better, stay in the area and come here for dinner and drinks to end your day.

What is it?
The Charleston is a 1920’s themed bar in the old Royal Bank Of Scotland building, serving great food and drink with live jazz music every night.

We had to try a classic alongside some other picky bits, we went for the Longbow burger, this was delicious, super juicy and cooked to perfection. We also had the sweet and sour duck, another favourite, with pork belly bites, Brazilian cheese bread, truffle fries and halloumi fries. We enjoyed all of our choices were but the cheese bread had a texture we didn’t expect, the taste was good but were not fully convinced on the texture. Try it and let us know.

Getting there
The Charleston, Rutland Square, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1BT – there’s no parking at the venue, but there’s a pay and display car park just to the right of it and more over the road bridge in the main Bakewell car park.
Walks nearby
We love Bakewell, so we often link it into our walks when we’re in the area. Our Ashford in the Water, Bakewell and Chatsworth circular is a favourite of ours on a nice day.
