We were lucky and caught sight of a mother deer and twins bouncing through the fields, so definitely keep your eye out for them when on this one.

Getting there & parking

Free Ashover car park (adjacent to the parish hall and show ground) – S45 0BA. There is also plenty of on street parking in the village, please just be mindful of residents and farmers gates when parking.

The route

This is a short circular route which takes you from the village up to a track with great views before heading through woodland and along the riverside path to get you back to the start.

Tips & what to bring

Be careful crossing the bridges in the woods, they’re okay but they do cover deep chasms, so keep little ones and dogs close, especially on these sections.

Eat & drink nearby

There are 2 pubs in the village as mentioned earlier, The Black Swan and The Old Poets Corner. We haven’t eaten at either of them (yet) but they do get quite busy and the Poets has a good reputation for real ales, if that’s your thing.
