Often referred to as the seaside town that’s nowhere near the sea, Matlock Bath has something for everyone, from chip shops to arcades and ice cream shops but do you have the nerve to walk along the cliffside and exposed ‘Giddy Edge’.
What to expect
Its hard to not love this one, Matlock Bath itself is very family friendly with everything to keep all ages entertained, and for the more adventurous or daring of the group, Giddy Edge will tick that box too.

Getting there & parking
Matlock Bath Station pay & display car park – DE4 3NS. There is also on street parking along the main road but be aware, it is time limited.
The route
A route in a figure of 8, the car park being between the shops and Giddy Edge. We prefer to start with Giddy Edge before getting fish and chips and then walking back along the riverside, but you can choose which way to do it, just be aware that Giddy Edge is one way as its very narrow.
Tips & what to bring
Don’t forget to bring loose change for the arcades and a good appetite for fish and chips by the river.
Eat & drink nearby
There’s a few chip shops in Matlock Bath, all competing on price and they’re all very good. There’s also a couple of pubs to choose from as well as ice cream shops, cafes and tea rooms.
