The lower reservoir was empty when we visited but are sure it would be very different after heavy rainfall. The woodland paths were beautiful and there are benches throughout which would make the perfect spot for a picnic.

Tips & what to bring

A beautiful and accessible route for all year round. Some people mention bringing change for the car park machines but we didn’t have a problem with them.

Chesterfield town centre is a short drive away with lots of choice for food and drinks. We love the midweek Pizza Hut buffet for £10 on the retail park.
