What to expect

The Tissington trail is a popular route for cyclists, horse riders and walkers but theres plenty of space for everyone. It runs along the old disused train track so the start of the route is mainly flat and a great option for anyone including pushchairs and wheelchair users or anyone simply wanting an easier walk.

After leaving the Tissington trail you’ll walk through the pretty village of Tissington before crossing over fields and up a steep hill towards a country lane that leads you back to the start. When we did this one, there were a group of cows that showed some interest in us, they were friendly and didn’t get too close but it’s worth knowing for anyone a little unsure of them.

Tips & what to bring

The trail is great all year round but the fields are not, in summer the grass can be long and in winter, wet. As always wear suitable footwear for the distance and route and enjoy it.
