Robin Hood’s Stoop & Little John’s Grave Walk From Hathersage

If you’re into your legends then this walk is for you. This Robin Hood’s Stoop and Little John’s grave circular will take you to the point Robin Hood allegedly shot the arrow from and where it landed in Hathersage, which was the decider to where Little John would later be buried.

This walk starts off picturesque leading you towards stepping stones across the river Derwent before taking you up onto the hillside where you’ll get amazing views across the beautiful village of Hathersage that you’ll explore afterwards.

Although the stepping stones are mainly solid, the differ quite vastly in size making crossing them a little tricky at points.

Getting there & parking

Oddfellows car Park, Hathersage – S32 1DU. This is a pay and display car park, there is also alternative parking at the train station on the next street.

The route

This is a circular route, starting roadside but then following a mix of riverside paths, fields and tracks before heading back down through woodland and into the village to find Little John’s Grave.

Take your time crossing the stepping stones and wear good footwear with plenty of grip as the stones can be slippery.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with the selection in Hathersage but our favourite is The George right in the centre of town, they serve food all day and the wood fired pizzas are incredible.
