There wasn’t a lot of choice for places to eat when stepping into Rhayader on our walk from the Elan Valley but we were ready for food and decided to give The Lamb & Flag a try. We couldn’t have been happier.
What is it?
The Lamb & Flag is a proper pub, it’s not fancy but it’s just what we wanted, they have the football on, dogs and muddy boots are welcome and the staff are so friendly. There’s bar seating if you just want a drink, tables for food and even tables outside if the suns shining.

We shared what we expected to be two snacky plates, the prices, food and portion sizes were all really good. We went for the chicken curry loaded fries and a southern fried chicken wrap and shared both. We really enjoyed both options and would happily order the same if we went again.

Lamb & Flag, North Street, Rhayader, LD6 5BT. There is parking round the back and plenty of other options in the village too from car parks to on street parking.
