Llanddwyn Island & Newborough Forest Walk, Anglesey, North Wales

Llanddwyn Island is our favourite spot on the whole of Anglesey and once you visit here, you’ll know why. Where the forest meets the sea. A beautiful sandy beach stretches along lush green forests with views over the the Snowdonia mountains.

What to expect

This place will probably always be busy, but it doesn’t matter because the beach is big enough for us all. Whether you want to spend an afternoon kayaking in the sea or reading a book in a hammock between two trees in Newborough forest, there’s room for everyone.

Getting there & parking

Newborough Beach car park – LL61 6SG. This is a pay and display car park, very pricey and charged every 20 minutes, making guessing how long you’ll be almost impossible. Unfortunately there’s no other real option for parking if you want to visit here, but we promise its worth it.

Tips & what to bring

Be sure to check tide times when visiting Llanddwyn island, it’s a tidal island and can get cut off at high tide. If you time it badly, you may have to wait it out before getting back to the car park. Take extra layers, snacks and water just incase you get stranded. There’s not many places better than this to be cut off, chances are, time will fly and you’ll love it.

Eat & drink nearby

There’s often a little snack van open in the car park. If you’re wanting something bigger, Aberffraw and Rhosneigr are about 30 minutes away in the car. They both have more food & drink choices, although Rhosneigr has probably a slightly better choice.
