With possibly the best beer garden in the whole of the Peak District, The Maynard at Grindleford is sure to be a regular stop off for us on our walks around Padley Gorge and the edges.

What is it?
A hotel, bar, restaurant and wedding venue in one. It offers the choice of a quick casual drink in the beer garden, a burger in the cosy bar area or a stunning 3 course meal, with locally sourced ingredients in the restaurant.

We opted for their ‘meat sharer’ to start, which had cajun chicken skewers, lamb koftas, greek salad, warm pitta, herb new potatoes & tzatziki, this would be enough for two people just passing through on a walk but because this was our main meal of the day we followed it with a trio of pies and venison ravioli, both were incredible, and the venison is from their own estate. You can’t get any more local that that.
