About the place
Cwm Wye is a beautiful site in a gorgeous area, just up from the river Wye, you can take the 4 mile riverside walk into the beautiful market town of Buith Wells or enjoy just letting the world go by at the campsite. It is on a working farm, although with the peace and tranquility here, you would never know, it really does feel like you’ve got the whole place to yourself. On site they have a tipi, a shepherds hut and space for tent and camper van campers.
The space
We stayed in the tipi which sleeps 4, with a double bed and 2 singles. There is an outside table and chairs with a fire pit to enjoy the outdoor living by your tent side but if you want more space, head into the woods just a few steps away where you’ll find over the fire cooking set ups, hammocks in the trees, undercover seating areas as well as composting toilets and hot showers.

Located just 4 miles from the popular town of Builth Wells, we recommend doing our Builth Wells riverside walk. (This will be in reverse from the campsite) The Elan Valley is around a 20 minute drive away and is absolutely breathtaking, a visit to this area wouldn’t be complete without a visit here. Try our short Caban Coch Dam Walk.
Would we go back?
We would return here in a heartbeat. If you’re wanting modern day luxuries like wifi and electricity then this place isn’t for you, but for anyone looking to escape the madness of everyday life and switch off for a while, this place couldn’t be more perfect.
